Honda Mobilio to be made at Greater Noida plant, new Jazz at Tapukara
The Honda Mobilio MPV that was displayed by the Japanese carmaker at the recent Auto Expo 2014 will go into production in June this year. Industry sources have confirmed to Autocar Professional by industry sources that the Mobilio MPV will be made at Honda Cars India’s Greater Noida plant in volumes of 45,000 units per annum.
Honda Cars India had already announced earlier that the Mobilio MPV, in both petrol and diesel trims, will be one of the new models to be launched this year in Q2 of 2014-15. The other new model – the new Jazz (codename 2WS) – that is slated for a rollout this year goes into production in July this year. This hatchback will be made in the carmaker’s new Tapukara plant in Rajasthan in volumes of 20,000 units annually.
The earlier Jazz was discontinued by Honda in February 2013 due to poor sales. The 1.2-litre petrol Jazz was produced in the company’s Greater Noida plant which has a production capacity of 120,000 units per annum. Monthly average sales of the old Jazz were around 700 units between April-December 2012.
