New Delhi, October 18, 2012: Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has launched it’s the Brio equipped with the automatic transmission in S(O) and V grades with a sticker price of Rs 5.74 lakh and Rs 5.99 lakh respectively. The company claims the Brio is the first car in the segment to be equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission. The Brio AT, which is powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine, is claimed to deliver 16.5 kilometres per litre.
In addition to the new AT launch, the company has also added a new EX variant in the Brio line-up equipped with new features.
The Brio now gets the Honda Care Maintenance Package for Rs 9,996 for free periodic maintenance service up to 40,000km or two years, whichever occurs earlier.
HCIL has cumulatively sold more than 25,000 units of the Brio in the first year of its launch.
Speaking at the launch, Jnaneswar Sen, senior VP (marketing & sales), said that automatic transmissions are gaining popularity in the hatchback segment due to stop-go traffic in most parts of the country. “Our dealer and customer voice indicated that there is a good potential for automatic in the Brio segment.”
