Honda launches 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade at Rs 17.61 lakh

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has opened bookings for the 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade, its flagship sportsbike. The CBR1000RR Fireblade, which will be sold in India as a CBU, is priced at Rs 17.61 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). A higher performance variant, the CBR1000RR Fireblade SP, will also be available at a price of Rs 21.71 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

First unveiled at EICMA 2016 in Italy, the 2017 Fireblade is an all-new generation of the CBR1000RR series, and marks 25 years of this particular line of motorcycle’s existence. At its heart is a 999cc in-line-four engine that now puts out 191.6hp at 13,000rpm (10hp more than before) and 114Nm at 11,000rpm.

According to Yadvinder Singh Guleria, senior vice-president - Sales and Marketing, HMSI, “Since 2009, when the Fireblade was first introduced in India, it has redefined the benchmarks for refinement, reliability and performance. The new and extremely advanced Fireblade is the most powerful, faster and lighter CBR1000RR from Honda’s stable.”

Honda claims it has revised 90 percent of the main components to result in a weight reduction of 16kg, bringing the bike’s kerb weight down to 195kg. This reduction in weight, coupled with the aforementioned increase in power has increased the bike’s power-to-weight ratio by 14 percent.

The 2017 Fireblade is crammed with electronics, including a new gyroscopic ABS system, ride-by-wire, 9-level torque control, selectable engine braking, electronic steering damper and power selector. The 2017 Fireblade SP additionally gets semi-active Ohlins Electronic Control (S-EC) suspension at the front and rear: 43mm NIX30 inverted forks up front and a TTX36 monoshock round the back, a quickshifter and downshift assist. Both bikes get full-colour TFT screens in the cockpits.

Both motorcycles will be sold through Honda’s Wing World outlets in Mumbai and Delhi.
