In line with the growing emphasis on car safety in the Indian market, Honda Cars India has introduced dual SRS airbags on all variants of its best-selling Honda City sedan as standard equipment. The City already comes with ABS and EBD as standard across all its variants.
The new equipment would result in a price increase of Rs 8,000 on the base variant that retails for Rs 764,000 (ex-showroom Delhi), while the price for all other variants remains unchanged, the company informed.
The company has also introduced rear ISOFIX and top tether anchor for child seats as standard equipment in the City. The newly introduced rear ISOFIX feature in the Honda City is an international standardised system, which provides a safer and quicker way to install a compatible child car seat.
Apart from equipping the City with new safety features, Honda Cars India also introduced a new top of the trim VX (O) BL variant with all-new black leather interiors. The new grade is positioned alongside the existing top-end VX (O) variant and is offered with manual transmission in both petrol and diesel engines. The new variant also comes with a sunroof and advanced integrated touch screen audio visual navigation system. The VX (O) BL variant is priced at par with the VX (O) variant that retails for Rs 10.74 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Announcing the newly enriched City line up, Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice president, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India said, “Our endeavour has always been to offer best-in-class products to our customers and we are happy to offer premium & luxurious Black Leather Interiors in the City. We are thankful to our customers for their tremendous response which has made the 4th Generation Honda City a huge success in India. We hope the mix of premium, luxury and safety enrichment to the City line-up will also be appreciated by our customers,” he further added.
Since its launch in January 2014, the fourth generation Honda City has sold more than 1.6 lakhs units across the country and while sales have seen some slowdown in the last couple of months, the new standard safety features and a peppier top-end variant could see some more customers lining up at Honda showrooms in the coming days.
