Honda Cars India has announced its Amaze sedan has registered cumulative sales of 500,000 units in the domestic market since its rollout in April 2013. The Amaze crossed 200,000 sales in June 2016, a little over three years after launch. The 400,000 sales mark came up in August 2020

Honda Cars India has announced its Amaze sedan has registered cumulative sales of 500,000 units in the domestic market since its rollout in April 2013. The Amaze crossed 200,000 sales in June 2016, a little over three years after launch. The 400,000 sales mark came up in August 2020 . The last 100,000 units have taken two years, which means the half-a-million milestone has taken nine years.
While the first-generation Amaze sold a cumulative 260,000 units in the Indian market, the second-generation model currently sold has gone home to over 240,000 buyers since its launch.
The Amaze had its best year to date in FY2019, when it sold 85,040 units comprising 61,014 petrol variants and 24,026 diesel variants. That strong performance also helped the Honda sedan enter India's Top 10 cars chart in FY2019.

The Amaze, which is Honda’s best-seller in India and accounts for over 40% of its sales, is manufactured at the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan for both the domestic and export markets.

The Honda Amaze is available in both manual transmission and CVT in petrol with 1.2L i-VTEC engine and also diesel with 1.5L i-DTEC engine. As per Honda Cars India, the model’s current sales contribution from Tier 1 markets is almost 40% while Tier 2 and 3 combined contribution is around 60 percent. With the growing popularity of automatic transmission models, the share of automatics in Amaze has also progressively increased from 9% at the time of initial introduction in 2013 to currently more than 30%.
With the strong market shift towards petrol during the last few years, the petrol variants of the Amaze also dominate overall sales of the sedan across the country. From a high of 67% in FY2014, demand for the diesel variant dropped to 28% in FY2019 when the second-generation model was launched and is now just seven percent in April-August 2022, with 93% buying the petrol-engined Amaze.
