Honda airbag recall now includes India

The airbag recall issue which has affected scores of Honda cars worldwide has had its impact in India.

Honda Cars India will replace the passenger-side airbag inflator of 575 CR-Vs (2004 model) and driver-side airbag inflator of 10,805 Accords (2003-2007 model).

The airbag recall issue which has affected scores of Honda cars worldwide has had its impact in India.

Honda Cars India today announced that it would carry out preventive replacement of passenger side airbag inflator of 575 units of the CR-V SUV manufactured in CY2004 and driver side airbag inflator of 10,805 units of the Accord sedan manufactured from CY2003 to CY2007 as part of Honda’s global recall / safety improvement campaign concerning airbag inflators. Additionally, the passenger side airbag inflator of one Civic (2004 model) will also be replaced.

Honda Cars India says no accident related to the airbag inflator has been reported in India.

The replacement would be carried out free of cost at Honda dealerships across India from June 4, 2015 in a phased manner and the company will communicate with customers directly. Owners of the affected cars can check whether their car will be covered under this campaign by submitting their 17 character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special microsite created on the company’s website: www.hondacarindia.com
