General insurance company HDFC Ergo has launched its motor self-inspection application that will allow motorists to renew their automobile policy on their own or by self-inspection.
The new facility willenable customers to get an instant insurance policy without having to wait for a physical inspection of the vehicle by an authorised motor surveyor. It says the self-inspection application is user-friendly and will help renew motor insurance policy without any physical documentation and inspection, thereby significantly bringing down the time taken for issuance of a policy.
To use the new renewal service the customer will need to log into the HDFC Ergo website or mobile insurance portfolio organiser application (IPO App). Once all the details are entered, the customer can opt between self-inspection or surveyor Inspection. Upon selecting the self-inspection option, an SMS is sent to the customer on his/her registered mobile number, that will contain the inspection reference number and the mobile self-inspection application download link.
After installing the application, it will fetch the reference number from the SMS sent and the customer will be automatically logged in. The customer will then need to capture a 45-second video with the help of the instructions.
After this, the customer will then be directed to the next step of capturing images of the vehicle Registration Certificate (RC), and all four sides of the vehicle with close-up images of the existing damages (if any) seen on the car.
Once the video and photos are uploaded and submitted, an inspection by the Central Team of HDFC will check for set parameters and will give the necessary approval. Once approved, the customer will receive a notification with the link to make payment for policy issuance.
The application is currently available for Android Users and the iOS version will be launched in December 2017.
