Greenfuel targets five-fold revenue growth in CNG system supplies by 2030

Gurugram-based Greenfuel Energy Solutions, which clocked Rs 200 crore revenue in FY2023 for its CNG fuel systems supplies business to leading passenger and commercial-vehicle OEMs in India, is eyeing five-fold growth by the end of the decade.
The company expects to register Rs 1,000 crore in revenues by 2030, based on the strong growth potential and demand for CNG vehicles in the Indian market.
“We are the only supplier to be doing complete conversion from diesel to CNG in commercial vehicles, and supply all the parts such as regulators, pipes, and valves among others that are part of the CNG fuel system of a vehicle,” Akshay Kashyap, founder and MD, Greenfuel Energy Solutions told Autocar Professional.
Some of Greenfuel’s key customers in the CNG fuel system supply segment including leading OEMs like Maruti Suzuki India (25% of its total car and SUV sales comprise CNG vehicles), Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, VE Commercial Vehicles and Swaraj Isuzu.
To enable this growth, the company has earmarked an investment of Rs 20 crore to relocate to a bigger, 90,000 square feet manufacturing facility in Jhajjar, Haryana, and grow its installed annual CNG capacity to 1 million units.
BULLISH ON THE EV BATTERIES BUSINESS TOO
While the company aims to commission this facility by October 2024, it is also bullish about the growth in its EV batteries business, wherein it is supplying Li-ion battery packs to swapping solutions companies, as well as electric two-wheeler, and e-rickshaw manufacturers.
“We have so far invested Rs 50 crore into the battery business, and expect to start making money by 2025 when the market consolidation will catalyse the need for technologically-advanced batteries developed with intense R&D,” commented Kashyap.
Greenfuel Energy Solutions’ new Jhajjar facility will also triple its battery- and other storage-solutions annual capacity to 500MW, and the company envisions capability to offer batteries for automotive application, and leverage recycling to offer sustainable energy storage solutions.
