Considering the rising number of fatalities due to road accidents in India, the government had constituted a Group of Ministers (GoM) to guide reforms for the road transport sector. In line with its agenda to recommend measures to make road travel in the country safe, the GoM, headed by Yunus Khan, minister for Transport, Rajasthan and comprising state transport ministers, held its third meeting in Dharamshala on June 12.
The GoM has already met earlier in New Delhi on April 29 and in Bengaluru on May 20 this year and in its third meeting the GoM released the following recommendations:
