GGB Bearings targets two-wheeler Tier 2 suppliers

GGB Bearings, an EnPro Industries company which is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA and has 43 manufacturing plants worldwide,, is looking at supplying high-performance metal polymer bearings to the Indian two-wheeler market.
GGB Bearings India, which sources its requirement from the plants in Europe and the US, has been supplying directly to Tier 1 players and some OEMs from 2007.
The company is now looking to increase its customer base in the country with its high-end kingpin bearings for heavy duty trucks and suspension bearings for trucks, and transmission bearings for cars and HCVs. At present, about 70 percent of its business comes from cars with the remaining 30 percent from commercial vehicles.
Speaking to Autocar Professional at the ACMA Automechanika New Delhi aftermarket trade fair, where the company is showing its latest product portfolio, Mahesh Thangamani, India sales manager, GGB Bearings India Technology, said, “We are looking to bring machinable polymer bearings this year to the Indian market. These bearings have high precision applications and help improve performance.”
