Federal-Mogul begins manufacture of CV brake linings at new Chennai plant

January 28, 2013: Federal-Mogul Corporation has launched its Ferodo commercial-vehicle (CV) linings in the Indian market. The product is being manufactured at the company’s new plant in Chennai.

The key features of the Ferodo CV lining include extended life to drums, noise and shudder resistance, adherence to IS11852 brake standards, durability under all operating conditions, and friction stability across the temperature range.

The launch of the Ferodo CV lining is being carried out in phases in India, focusing on key markets. As part of the first phase, the product line has been launched across various markets in Mumbai. The product will be launched in other key regions over the next few months.

“We are extremely pleased to announce the launch of the CV brake linings in the market and the commencement of our Chennai facility to cater to the demands of our aftermarket customers,” said Madhur Aneja, vice- president – Asia and Africa, Federal-Mogul Aftermarket. “Ferodo brake linings are technologically advanced and are proven in the CV market in other regions of the world. Each brake lining produced meets the material, process and quality standards demanded by our customers.”

Ferodo CV linings are, according to Federal-Mogul, the product of an optimum brake block formula, developed over decades of research and testing. Each starts with the finest, most consistent friction materials and is produced via computer-controlled automation to meet tough standards for uniform quality. Located in Mahindra World city, the Chennai plant is a world-class, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. In years to come, this facility will manufacture additional friction products.

“We are bullish about the aftermarket segment in India, and through offerings such as Ferodo, we look to expand our portfolio and leverage the steadily growing market,” added Aneja.
