To mark World Environment Day today, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has begun week-long (June 5-11) celebrations at its Manesar factory and across its dealership network.
Keita Muramatsu, president and CEO, flagged off the celebrations with a tree plantation at the factory. “Preserving the environment is top of the mind for us at Honda. As a responsible corporate, Honda announced its global vision of 30 percent CO2 reduction by 2020. In India too, we are actively contributing to build a greener tomorrow. The same reflects in our processes, technology and plant architecture,” said Muramatsu at the event.
The Japanese automaker works on a holistic approach of environment preservation through its green factory, green dealer and green supplier concept. It has installed waste heat recovery boilers to recover waste energy. Most of the waste water is recycled and reused within the factory. Various employee engagement programs including in-house training, slogan and poster-making competitions are held to encourage increased participation.
Special initiatives are free PUC check-up and distribution of saplings to customers will be conducted at dealerships.
