Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) along with Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, Japan (MFTBC) has launched its made-in- Oragadam trucks in Bangladesh.
With this, Bangladesh becomes the sixth market – after Kenya, Sri Lanka, Zambia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe – since the start of export for Fuso trucks in May last year.
The Fuso truck range, manufactured at DICV’s Oragadam plant, comprises five models spanning medium/heavy-duty (25-49 tonnes /FJ, FO and FZ) and medium-duty (9-16 tonnes/ FA, FI). The trucks will be sold through the exclusive dealer Rangs Motors, an authorised local distributor in Bangladesh for MFTBC.
Daimler Trucks Asia is focussing on strengthening its presence in Africa and Asia and is targeting growth in the future markets. Its Asia Business Model introduced in 2013 creates synergies by bundling the strengths of the Japan-based MFTBC and DICV under the umbrella of Daimler Trucks Asia.
The Fuso brand, says Daimler, is showing strong growth potential in Africa with a presence in over 35 markets, and has almost doubled sales in Q1, 2014 to 2,000 units, compared to the same period in 2013.
