Cummins appoints Ashwath Ram as ABO leader and MD for India operations
He will be responsible for leading all business units and functional groups in India including all manufacturing sites and legal entities.
Cummins has announced that Ashwath Ram has been appointed India ABO leader and MD Cummins India (CIL), effective August 17. He will be responsible for leading all business units and functional groups in India including all manufacturing sites and legal entities.
Commenting on the appointment, Norber Nusterer, vice-president and president, Cummins Inc, said: “Ashwath’s strong contributions and leadership make us very confident in his ability to steer Cummins India through the next phase of growth and competitive challenges. He has demonstrated a strong commitment to quality while achieving consistent sales and market share growth. He is committed to Cummins’ values and holds himself and his teams to high standards of excellence and integrity.”
Ram had joined Cummins in Columbus, Indiana, USA in 1991 and since that time he has led business unit operations as well as key strategic transformations for the Engine Business and Power Systems in India. Most recently, he served as MD of Tata Cummins and EBU India general manager, overseeing the Cummins joint venture and building relationships with large OEM partners, customers and suppliers. He is credited for implementing Six Sigma, VPI and Project Management improvements, and has driven supply chain excellence across global EBU joint ventures.
Ram earned his master’s in business administration (MBA) from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University (USA) and his undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University (USA).
