Global technology major Continental AG has announced that it has completed its formalities to acquire CooperStandard’s Anti-Vibration Systems (AVS) business worldwide and its stake in the India joint venture, Sujan CooperStandard. Global technology major Continental AG has announced that it has completed its formalities to acquire CooperStandard’s Anti-Vibration Systems (AVS) business worldwide and its stake in the India joint venture, Sujan CooperStandard. The US-based CooperStandard had announced its intention to divest its AVS business worldwide to Continental AG’s ContiTech division in November 2018.
Continental has been active in the area of vibration control and noise insulation for more than 80 years. Its ContiTech division has global production and development footprints in Germany, France, Slovakia, USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and China, and several R&D centres worldwide.
Sujan CooperStandard despatches about 1.5 million parts every month across 162 basic product categories under its anti-vibration systems business.
The Indian JV’s new board members, Claus Peter Spille and Joe Emmi were recently in the country to visit the Sujan CooperStandard’s facilities at Pune and Chennai. Claus Peter Spille, executive vice-president, ContiTech Vibration Control, said, “We are glad to be part of the India growth story and will offer our JV customers the latest technologies and innovative solutions in vibration control and lightweighting.”
Joe Emmi, executive vice-president, Automotive segment, ContiTech, said, “Our JV customers will have the access and support of our global footprint and additional R&D centres and be able to leverage them for local and overseas programs.”
Vijay Sujan, CEO of the India JV, commented: “We were happy to receive a warm welcome note from our colleagues worldwide and a welcome video from Mr Hans-Jüergen Duensing, member of the executive board of Continental responsible for the ContiTech division, and feel part of the Continental family. ContiTech is one of the world's leading industrial specialists. Its customer base includes machine and plant engineering, mining, the agricultural industry, and the automotive industry. With around 46,000 employees worldwide, the company uses its development and material expertise for products and systems made of rubber, polyamide, metal, textile, and electronic components to combine these with individual services.
