India remains one of the highly polluted countries in the world and ‘vehicular pollution’ driven by fossil fuels remains a key concern in the country. Auto LPG happens to be an environment-friendly fuel with a global warming potential (GWP) of zero and emits very modest amounts of particulate matter and nitrogen oxides. As per the reports by NITI Aayog and RMI, by 2050 India can save around Rs 311,000 crore worth of fuel and reduce 10 gigatonnes of CO2 by implementing clean and sustainable transportation practices. It is also being estimated that Auto LPG not only reduces CO2 emissions by up to 15 percent compared to petrol-powered vehicles, but also eliminates nearly 80 percent of particulate emissions on replacing a diesel engine. Suyash Gupta, Director General, Indian Auto LPG Coalition said, “The retail industry is becoming increasingly aware of the necessity of having a consistent approach to sustainability and carbon footprint management. This is something we’ve been advocating to all our clients, from the start—having sustainability as a best practice is the best way to a cleaner future and greener goods.”
Amarnath Halember, Executive Director and CEO, NextG Apex India, “With regard to our own brands too, we have ensured our cutting-edge facilities can monitor the quality of products by stringent testing methods that leads to reduced use of rampant preservatives. We also ensure that we don’t indulge in indiscriminate processing practices, since they have a heavy carbon footprint. Our packaging too, just like we advise, conforms to biodegradable norms nearly 90% of the time. We also encourage our employees, vendors, and clients to minimise the usage of hardware, more gadgets, single device model, only cloud base operations rather than using more servers, storage devices, hard disks, pen drives etc., so that we save the environment by reducing E-waste in the long run.”
