BYD and Landmark open new showroom in New Delhi
BYD India, which is seeing strong demand for its e6 MPV and is reading to launch the Atto 3 crossover, expands its retail reach.
Automobile dealer Landmark Group today opened a new 6,000 square feet sales and service facility in Okhla, New Delhi for electric vehicle OEM BYD India. It is coming up with another showroom in Andheri, Mumbai. Landmark Group also retails Mercedes-Benz, Jeep and Volkswagen-branded cars in India.
Garima Mishra, MD, Landmark Group says that the BYD e6 MPV, which was launched in November 2021 in India, is witnessing great acceptance among fleet buyers, and thus far 90-95 percent of the all-electric MPV's sales are from the aforementioned category. "We have huge backorders and right now are unable to supply to customers as per the growing demand," Mishra said, hinting that there is a chance that fleet operators might come BYD's way after the temporary discontinuation of the Innova Crysta diesel, the fleet champion.
"Customers who want similar levels of space and comfort will be surprised when they experience the e6," she said. Across Delhi and Mumbai, Landmark Group currently has around two months of backorders for the e6 MPV.
BYD, which has gone past Tesla in global sales this year, is understood to have targeted sales of 10,000 units in CY2023, across the e6 and Atto 3 models in the competitive Indian marketplace.
Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior VP of the Electric Passenger Vehicle Business of BYD India, said, “The New Delhi NCR region is one of the key markets for BYD India. New Delhi has immense potential for premium passenger vehicles, and additional 18,000 charging stations are planned to be installed across the city by 2024. The goal is to have one station for every 15 electric vehicles inside the city. This is a major boost for the EV industry and we strongly believe that BYD will be the main contributor to EV adoption in the EPV segments.”
