Bharat Forge partners PTC to set up Industry 4.0 Centre of Excellence in Pune

Bharat Forge’s new ‘Industry 4.0 Centre of Excellence’ in partnership with PTC, a US-based computer software and services company, was inaugurated today at its manufacturing plant in Pune.

Bharat Forge says the facility is designed as a working Centre of Excellence built on its 4.0 thought leadership to incubate digital transformation ideas, develop and experience new cutting-edge technologies and train its people to be able to deploy it on the shopfloor.

This CoE will help Bharat Forge to enable preventive maintenance, improve operational efficiency, product quality and time to market. This facility will build the foundation for machine learning and artificial intelligence.

The Centre of Excellence was inaugurated by Baba N Kalyani, chairman and managing director, Bharat Forge; Stefano Rinaldi, senior vice-president, PTC – Western Europe, Emerging Markets and India; Amit Kalyani, executive director, Bharat Forge and Kalyan Sridhar, vice-president and country manager, PTC India. This is the first partnership of PTC with any private sector company.

Speaking at the inauguration, Amit Kalyani, executive director, Bharat Forge said, “The Industry 4.0 Centre of Excellence will accelerate the digital transformation of our manufacturing facilities while enabling swift and informed decision-making. It will help to co-create and continuously evolve and augment our processes for agile manufacturing. This is in line with our vision of moving towards a digitised workplace for higher levels of productivity and efficiency across all the operating processes. Leveraging on PTC’s technology stack and Bharat Forge’s strong manufacturing excellence, we will drive digital innovation and derive significant business value.”

Kalyan Sridhar, vice-president and Country Manager, PTC India said, “Industry 4.0 is transforming the way products are created, manufactured, operated and serviced. Organisations are investing significant resources to transform their business; thus having clear direction and the right technologies is critical for their continued success.
