Jaipur-based Autolite India, the flagship company of the Autopal MPG Group has announced that it has bagged an order from a global automotive company to supply 13 million automotive lamps. The company says this order is worth $6.5 million (around Rs 46.8 crore).
According to Autolite the buyer conducted multi-layer pre-order audits in the parameters of quality, plant capabilities and working systems among others, which finally culminated with this order by the leading MNC in competition with its domestic and global peers.
Prior to this order, the buyer has been procuring this product segment mainly from China based big automotive lamp makers. As part of the non-disclosure agreement Autolite has refrained from disclosing the name of the buyer.
In the current year, Autopal Mpg group will be investing around Rs 10 crore in new machines for automotive lighting segments apart from its diversified investments in futuristic business of electric vehicles. This it says is part of ambitious plan of positioning Autopal Mpg Group among front runners in EV segments.
It has already entered into contracts with machinery suppliers for Rs 7 crore for new lines in automotive lighting sector, this investment includes fully automated assembly lines, metalising equipments and vision-based testing systems.
Last year, Autolite says it invested a significant amount in R&D and production lines of LED technology, which is now fully operational and presently under evaluation stage by leading global buyers before granting big orders to the company. Similarly, Autolite is expanding its business with this MNC buyer in LED-based lamps and the orders into this segment are also under negotiations.
