Audi India, which sold 10,002 cars (+11.1 percent) in 2013 and became the first luxury carmaker to cross the threshold of 10,000 deliveries in a calendar year, has now reached another milestone.
The manufacturer has announced that it has registered sales of 10,126 cars in 2013-14, becoming the first luxury carmaker in India to sell over 10,000 units in a fiscal year. These numbers are a 8.30 percent growth year on year (April 2012-March 2013: 9,350 units). Audi India has also clocked its best sales in March 2014 – 1,404 units, marking 27 percent growth (March 2013: 1,104) and also in Q1 2014 – 2,740 units, which is a 4.7 percent YoY increase (January-March 2013: 2,616)
At present, Audi is the sole luxury carmaker which doesn't have a hatchback on offer in India to rival BMW's 1-series, Mercedes-Benz's A-class or Volvo's V40. However, it is looking to step up the battle by introducing the A3 sedan as the most affordable Audi in India this year. The new entry-level model could play a crucial role in maintaining the company's current momentum.
