By increasing manufacturing capacity by 250% to 420,000 units per annum, Ather Energy will be able to cater to growing demand for its Ather 450X and 450 Plus.
The new plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu is spread across 300,000 square feet.
The new plant, which employs 1,600 workforce, is twice the size of the first plant and has two vehicle and three battery lines.

Focus on quality output: New plant is Industry 4.0-enabled and brings together data from Testing & Simulation, Process (Industry 4.0), Field (connected vehicle).
With a strong local ecosystem, most of the supplier base for Ather Energy is in Tamil Nadu and neighbouring Karnataka, making Hosur an ideal location for the factory.
Ather says each scooter goes through more than 1,500 stringent tests to ensure its reliability and safety.
Ather is currently producing 600 electric scooters a day, which is set to grow to 1,500 units soon.
The new factory in Hosur is high on sustainability with zero effluents generated and zero water discharge. The facility also has energy regenerative testing units at assembly lines.
