Ashok Leyland has launched the Ecomet Star 1815 truck in 17.5 T GVW category. As per the company, the truck has best-in-class payload capacity and delivers superior mileage. The Ecomet Star 1815 is targeted at long haul customers seeking higher payload and a faster turnaround time.
Sanjeev Kumar, Head, MHCV, Ashok Leyland, said, “Ashok Leyland is complementing the rapid growth of the ICV segment by regular launch of differentiated products. With the new Ecomet Star 1815, we set our footprint in the 17.5T segment and ensure higher profitability for our customers in logistics, e-commerce, parcel, agri-perishable, cement and industrial goods applications”
The Ecomet Star 1815, which is powered by H Series engines that develop maximum power of 150Hp and 450 Nm torque, is claimed to have best-in-class payload of 11.74T (20ft HSD).
The latest Ashok Leyland M&HCV is available with five loading spans – 20 feet /22 feet /24 feet (with day cabin) and 20 feet and 22 feet (with sleeper cabin).
Other highlights include a high strength steel frame, new digital dashboard with Advanced Digital Driver Assist, advanced telematics (i-Alert), remote diagnostics with 24×7 customer assistance through Uptime Solution Centre.
Ashok Leyland looks to ride demand for heavy-duty trucks
One of the heartening takeaways from the industry wholesales numbers for Q1 FY2023, released by apex body SIAM on July 13, has been the revival of demand for the Indian commercial vehicle (CV) industry.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicles, which are known to be the barometer of the economy, are reflecting the improved market sentiment. There has been gradual demand recovery in M&HCVs with transporters reporting improving fleet utilisation levels, the multiplier effect of the large government spending on road construction projects across the country and also higher consumption of cement for infrastructure projects. There is also sustained demand from logistics providers, which cater to companies' requirements across the country, as well as from the booming e-commerce sector.
