Bangalore-based start-up Campervan Camps and Holidays India today unveiled LuxeCamper, which is said to be India’s first commercially approved premium motorhome. Apart from manufacturing motorhomes, the start-up also offers guided holidays to various destinations in the country for customers.
The LuxeCamper has been approved by the ARAI as per AIS-124 standards. The motorhomes are based on an Ashok Leyland chassis with a 4,200mm wheelbase. They are approximately the size of a school bus and have been designed and fabricated specifically to be a premium motorhome. The motorhomes have living and sleeping areas that can accommodate up to four people. The LuxeCampers have rooftop solar panels, which will help charge the inverter batteries and power the equipment inside the cabin, including heating and ventilation systems.
Can you drive one? Yes, provided you have a driving license for heavy vehicles. However, for the majority of customers who won’t have one, the company will also provide a driver with the LuxeCamper for any journeys you have planned.
Features on offer
With social distancing being the need of the hour in COVID-19 times, the motorhomes are equipped with all the facilities needed for a self-contained vacation.
The motorhomes have a lounge at the rear which can be converted into a queen-sized bed, along with a motorised, suspended queen bed at the front for the accommodation. There’s also a fully functional kitchenette onboard, complete with an induction stove, microwave, toaster, electric kettle and a fridge/freezer. Having these amenities at hand mean that customers will not have to rely on hotels and restaurants on their holiday.
The campers are also equipped with a hot/cold shower, a toilet, a wardrobe, a skylight, five bi-directional fans, 230V AC power sockets and USB charging points. For entertainment, it features two smart TVs, 4G Wi-Fi and a Bluetooth audio system.
For safety of the customers, the LuxeCampers are fitted with 360-degree cameras, emergency exits, fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, a speed governor and a GPS tracker.
They also get few outdoor features such as a barbecue connection, an external shower, an awning with wind sensors and a bicycle rack.
Guided holidays
Campervan Camps and Holidays has also built a tech platform that allows people to choose from a set of recommended trails, as well as have the option to customise and configure their own trails to various destinations in the country, travelling in the LuxeCampers.
The firm has tied up with small lodges, homestays and select campsites of Jungle Lodges and Resorts that are situated near beaches, historical monuments, hill stations and wildlife safari spots. The spots are pre-screened for safety, cleanliness and the scenery for halting the campers overnight. Currently, the company provides this service to locations only in Karnataka but, will soon expand to the rest of India.
