Apollo Tyres awarded British Safety Council’s ‘Sword of Honour’

Apollo Tyres has been recognised with the prestigious Sword of Honour from the British Safety Council, demonstrating excellence in the management of health and safety risks at work.

The company’s Andhra Pradesh plant was awarded with British Safety Council’s ‘Sword of Honour’, following its achievement of Five Stars in British Safety Council’s health and safety management audit scheme. The qualification period for this is between August 1, 2023 and July 31, 2024. The organisation has also demonstrated to an independent panel of experts that it has achieved excellence in its health and safety management throughout the business -- from the shopfloor to the boardroom.

Yoichi Sato, Chief Quality and Safety Officer, Apollo Tyres, said: “The Sword of Honour award is a significant achievement for us, recognising our efforts to make health and safety an integral part of how we operate. It acknowledges Apollo Tyres’ health and safety mission of achieving wellbeing with always healthy and absolute safety. Congratulations to everyone at the Andhra Pradesh plant for this well-deserved recognition. We look forward to advancing our efforts and ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and stakeholders while raising the bar for excellence in workplace safety at all other manufacturing locations. This achievement furthers Apollo Safe Way 2.0’s cause of enhancing society and customers’ trust towards the organisation.”

Peter McGettrick, Chairman, British Safety Council, said, “On behalf of the board of trustees and staff of the British Safety Council I would like to congratulate Apollo Tyres on achieving the highest standards of its health and safety management. These awards recognise the commitment, dedication and absolute professionalism undertaken. We are proud to support your organisation in its achievement and delighted we can contribute to your ongoing success.”

Mike Robinson, Chief Executive, British Safety Council, added: “I would like to congratulate Apollo Tyres and its staff on this award, in tribute to their commitment to keeping their workplace safe and healthy. All of the Sword, Globe and Shield award winning organisations share a commitment and resolve to achieve the uppermost standards of health and safety.
