In the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic, the Amara Raja Group has announced a donation of Rs 6 crore which constitutes Rs 5 crore to the Andhra Pradesh CM Relief Fund and Rs 1 crore to the Telangana CM Relief Fund towards supporting all the measures being undertaken by the two state governments. This contribution by the organisation includes a one-day salary contribution by employees of the Amara Raja Group.
Over and above this, Jayadev Galla, vice-chairman of Amara Raja Group, in his capacity as the Member of Parliament, Guntur has also announced a sum of Rs 2.5 crore from his MPLADS (The Member of Parliament Local Area Development Division) fund for prevention of COVID-19 in his parliamentary constituency.
Furthermore, Rajanna Trust – the CSR arm of the Amara Raja Group – is to continue to support with medical essentials from an earmarked exclusive fund to take up initiatives towards supporting government hospitals in Chittoor district and Guntur district. The fund will be utilised primarily to focus on public health and essentials supplies towards containment, control and prevention of the spread of COVID 19. The initiatives have already started with supplies of masks, gloves and hand sanitisers worth Rs 500,000 being donated in the presence of Chittoor district collector, Narayana Bharath Gupta, a few days ago.
The relief fund cheques were handed over to the Andhra Pradesh CM office through the District Collector by Dr Ramachandra N Galla, chairman of Amara Raja Group, along with Dr Ramadevi Gourineni, managing director, Amara Raja Infrastructure and G Vijaya Naidu, president (Group Quality & HSE).
In Hyderabad, the cheque for the CM Relief Fund was handed over to KT Rama Rao, Minister of MA&UD, Industries and IT&C by S.Vijayanand, CEO of Amara Raja Batteries and Jaikrishna B, President-Group HR of Amara Raja Group.
