ACMA to debut at Brazilian aftermarket trade fair

The Auto Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the apex body representing the Indian automotive component industry, with the support of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, government of India, is participating for the first time at Automec Brazil 2019. The 14th edition of the international trade fair on autoparts, equipments and services, is being held from April 23-27at Soo Paulo, Brazil. Over 15 ACMA member companies are part of the India pavilion at the event.

Automec is the leading fair in Latin America for the replacement and repair sectors for light, heavy and commercial vehicles. Automec is recognised as the key platform for networking among large distributors, car parts retailers, automotive workshops and national and international suppliers in Brazil.

Brazil is the ninth-largest vehicle market in the world, with sales of more than 2 million units in 2018. The aftermarket in Brazil, over the past two years, has witnessed steep growth as new vehicle sales continued to be subdued, thus prolonging the life of on-road vehicles. The Brazilian aftermarket’s turnover stood at US$ 28.8 billion (Rs 181,929 crore) in 2018, while the overall component industry recorded US$ 36 billion (Rs 227,412 crore) in turnover.

Commenting on ACMA’s debut at Automec Brazil,  Ram Venkataramani, president, ACMA said, “We are delighted to be a part of Automec Brazil. The Brazilian automotive aftermarket has seen strong double-digit growth in the recent years. With consumption of India-like products, the market holds significant opportunities for the Indian auto component industry.”
