ACMA targets Japan for new business opportunities

The Auto Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) is organising a 25-member CEO delegation to Japan from February 2-5. Led by Ramesh Suri, president, ACMA and chairman, Subros Ltd and comprising CEOs from leading auto component manufacturers in the country, the delegation will be visiting Tokyo and Osaka in Japan to explore opportunities and enhance business linkages with the Japanese automotive industry.

During the visit, the delegates will interact with OEMs, component manufacturers, government officials and local industry bodies in Japan to update them on the growing capabilities of the Indian auto component Industry and explore opportunities for potential JVs and strategic alliances. They will also meet CEOs and purchasing heads of leading OEMs including Daihatsu, Kubota, Nissan, Suzuki and other major Tier 1  and Tier 2 companies in Japan.

ACMA is also organising a seminar with Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) which is supported by the Indian embassy and Japan Auto Parts Industries Association (JAPIA) with the objective to strengthen trade and partnership between the two countries. Over 160 delegates are  to attend this networking event.   

Commenting on the visit, Ramesh Suri said, “The Japanese automotive industry has played a pivotal role in nurturing the Indian automotive industry and with this visit we look forward to strengthening our partnership with the OEMs, component suppliers and especially SMEs. The visit will also provide an opportunity to address the rising trade deficit between the two countries – in 2013-14 India exported auto components worth US$ 240 million (Rs 1,516 crore) to Japan while Japan exported US$ 1,569 million (Rs 9,576  crore) to India.”
