In its endeavour to offer growth avenues to its over 700-member partners, the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), on August 20, conducted a full-day technology show at the premises of Japanese carmaker Honda Cars India, at its Greater Noida plant.
Honda Cars India hosted 19 Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers (see exhibitors list) including manufacturers of different components ranging from brakes, steering and suspension products to seatbelts, airbags and wire harnesses. With a rise in in-vehicle electronics, telematics, plastic modules, RPAS (rear park assist), ADAS and infotainment products were also on display in large numbers.

The ACMA technology show proved to be a platform to the component suppliers to engage directly with the engineers at Honda Cars India and thus offer potential business opportunities for them with Honda for its future model pipeline. Teams from engineering, procurement, vendor development, quality development and finance thronged the show, which is a frequent activity conducted by ACMA with OEMs across the passenger vehicle, two-wheeler and commercial vehicle segments.
“As part of our business development initiatives, we conduct these technology shows where the OEM shortlists 20-30 companies from our elaborative membership database, which it would want to interact with depending upon their requirement of either finding out a new vendor, or to on-board a new supplier for a particular component already being procured from someone else, but for de-risking purposes,” said Vinnie Mehta, director general, ACMA.
“These are very serious and fruitful meetings with the entire engineering, design and procurement teams being present to interact with representatives from the suppliers. With a reassurance to the OEMs about the supplier’s authenticity being an ACMA member, we are happy that we are able to connect vendors to the OEMs,” he added.
“We have done such shows with Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor India, Tata Motors and Volvo Eicher in this fiscal until now,” Mehta said.
