Made-in-Chennai Fuso trucks launched in Tanzania

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), along with Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, Japan (MFTBC), a Daimler Company, launched its DICV-made trucks in Tanzania. This makes Tanzania the fourth market, after Sri Lanka, Kenya and Zambia, since the start of Fuso truck exports in May 2013.

As a part of the first 15 export markets for DICV under the new Asia Business Model, the Tanzanian market is a key market in Africa. The new business model creates synergies by bundling the strengths of MFTBC and DICV under Daimler Trucks Asia.

The Fuso truck range manufactured at DICV‘s Oragadam plant comprises five models spanning Medium/Heavy-duty (25-49 tonnes - 'FJ', 'FO' & 'FZ') and Light/Medium-duty (9-16 tonnes - 'FA' & 'FI').

Daimler says its Fuso truck brand is recording strong growth in Africa and has a presence in over 35 markets. Sales in the first two months of 2014 nearly doubled to 1,060 units from 580 units in the same period last year.
