Royal Enfield continues 2015 with a strong sales performance and posted sales of 30,240 units in combined domestic wholesale and exports in February 2015, recording a growth of 49 % over same period last year.
Meanwhile, the company said for calendar year 2014, it recorded its highest ever total income from operations at Rs 3031.2 crore, a growth of over 78 percent from Rs 1702.5 crore in CY 2013. Profitability too was significantly higher with an EBIT of 22.5 percent, bettering the 16.6 percent recorded in CY 2013.
In 2014, Royal Enfield has recorded sales over 300,000 units and this year plans to manufacture 450,000 units. The company has revealed plans to build two new technology centres – one in Chennai, which will be operational by Q2 2016 and a smaller satellite centre in Leicestershire, UK, which will go on stream by the end of 2015. These technology centres will, the company says, help execute Royal Enfield’s long- term product strategy. The manufacturer is investing Rs 500 crore in 2015 in all strategic areas for long- term growth including capacity expansion, product development, frontline and backend.
Royal Enfield is also expanding its global footprint. In Australia, it has announced Urban Moto Imports as its distributor for the country and will be responsible for supplying, marketing, reselling, distribution and servicing of Royal Enfield products in the Australian market. It will operate out of Melbourne with a dealer network across Australia and New Zealand. Royal Enfield will be retailing its Bullet, Classic and the new Continental GT cafe racer models there along with its range of purpose-built apparel and accessories.
