Yamaha Motor Co has launched the new Wolverine X2 ROV (Recreational Off-highway Vehicle）in North America and other markets from this month. As ROVs are key products in the recreational vehicle business segment, Yamaha is actively expanding its ROV product lineup. Manufacturing will be carried out by US Group company Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corporation of America (YMMC).
The Wolverine X2 is based on the platform of the four-seater Wolverine X4 recreational model launched in 2017. With off-road driving and hunting as the main target usages, the two-seater Wolverine X2 provides a high-level balance of excellent driving performance, comfort, reliability, and practicality. A range of accessories such as off-road navigation systems have been designed for the new model, utilising the advantages of the common platform by enabling sharing across the ‘Wolverine Series’.
The Wolverine X2’s main features include an 847cc, two-cylinder engine which delivers both quietness and low vibration as well as excellent off-road performance through its powerful low speed torque and punchy throttle response, a compact and lightweight body ideal for tight, technical driving conditions, and a large-capacity rear load tray including a tailgate which can be opened and closed with only one hand.
Yamaha is targeting sales of 3,000 units of the Wolverine X2, which is priced at US$ 12,699 (Rs 865,299).
Primarily popular in North America, ROVs are used in a wide range of situations, from practical field applications to recreational and sports markets. The new model cannot be registered to obtain license plates, and thus cannot be driven on public roads.
