Volvo Cars' first quarter global sales down 18%, China and Covid-19 impact numbers

China sales in Q1 were 20,780 cars, down 30.5%, primarily due to the lower sales in January and February. Volvo Cars has now reopened its four manufacturing plants in China after an extended closure.

Volvo Cars has reported sales of 131,889 cars in the first quarter of 2020, down 18.2% compared with the same period last year. The company’s global sales performance was affected by the continued impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
