Volvo Cars' soon-to-be-revealed fully electric XC40 sports utility vehicle will come pre-installed with Zenuity’s assisted and autonomous driving software. This system is similar to the one that is already included by Zenuity in the all electric performance car, Polestar 2.

Geely Group is the parent company for Polestar and Volvo and Zenuity is a 50-50 joint venture between Volvo Cars and Veoneer, the Swedish company known for next-gen vision systems in automotives. The use of Zenuity software in the Volvo's XC40 and the Polestar 2 underlines its advanced product development capability and the commercial attraction of its offering as a result of its safety credentials and assisted driving capabilities.

Zenuity is currently working with Veoneer to serve auto manufacturers in the US, China and Europe and is a preferred supplier to the ZCH Group.

Volvo claims that the soon-to-be-launched fully electric XC40 SUV would be one of the safest cars on the roads that would come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) jointly developed by Zenuity and Veoneer. The new ADAS platform will consists of an array of radars, cameras and ultrasonic sensors. Zenuity claims the software can easily be developed further and lays the foundation for the future introduction of autonomous drive technology.

Dennis Nobelius, Zenuity's chief executive said, “This shows our capability to build and create a complete software system stack for customers.”
