VinFast, the first Vietnamese global car brand, has officially launched VinFast President, the limited edition SUV model. Designed by Pininfarina, only 500 units of the VinFast President are to be made, and exclusively for the Vietnamese market. The SUV is priced at 3.8 billion VND (~ 164K US$ / Rs 1.21 crore) for the first 100 customers, and 4.6 billion VND (~198K US$ / Rs 1.46 crore) for the next 400 buyers.
The VinFast President is a further step in the cooperation between VinFast and Pininfarina. The Italian design house has already developed the exterior and interior design of the LUX A2.0 sedan and LUX SA2.0 SUV and has manufactured in its atelier in Cambiano, Torino, the two show cars that VinFast unveiled at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
The VinFast President is powered by a 6.2-litre V8 engine which develops maximum power of 420hp and maximum torque of 624 Nm. Combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a full-time 4-wheel drive system, the VinFast President is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 6.8 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of nearly 300kph.
Elegant design
The VinFast President has an elegant, and powerful design by Pininfarina. The embossed veins on either the capo or the sides give the car an aerodynamic beauty, along with iconic details such as front, rear LED strip lights, and V-shaped logo. The grille is designed in a diamond shape to accentuate the high class, while the large air cavity on the capo enhances the car’s strong appearance. The highlight of the VinFast President’s rear is a pair of sporty large dual exhaust pipes, which effectively support the V8 engine running smoothly and achieving optimal performance.
Embellishing the luxry SUV are sophisticated details covered in Gold colour, Copper bronze, Gun Metal, or Metallic Silver on the logo, roof rack, door braces, car steps, wheel, front and rear bumper and 18 exterior paint colors for customers to choose.
Inside, the VinFast President places full focus on the comfort of both the driver and the rear seat occupant with massage, heating and ventilation features for the first and second rows. In particular, the second row of seats is very spacious with an increased legroom of up to 20cm compared to the Lux SA2.0 model.
All seats are covered with premium Nappa leather and there is premium veneer wood from Italy. The SUV gets a large 7-inch multi-function display cluster, a centre screen of 12.3 inches and 13 high-end speakers.
Speaking at the launch today, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh, Standing Deputy General Director of VinFast Company, said: “The President is a product line that represents the high class and quality of VinFast, it is also our affirmation to the world of Vietnamese automobile production capacity. We want to dedicate this wonderful product and VinFast's top-notch customer care services to the Vietnamese people who have a pioneering and strong spirit. That is also the reason why VinFast only produces a limited number of 500 cars to ensure this masterpiece is worthy of its owner."
Besides the launch of the VinFast President in Vietnam, VinFast is continuing to focus on the research and development of EV models which it plans to export to the US by 2021.
