Toyota to put its best tech foot forward at Automotive Engineering Expo in Yokohama
The Japanese carmaker is to showcase a cutaway model of the fourth-generation Prius, the first car utilising the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), the engine and lithium-ion batteries of the enhanced hybrid system.
Toyota Motor Corporation will be putting its best tech foot forward at the 2016 Automotive Engineering Exposition in Yokohama, organised by the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan.
This annual event will be held at Pacifico Yokohama from May 25-27 and Toyota plans to display its initiatives to build ever-better cars and to promote a safe, eco-friendly future.
The Japanese carmaker is to showcase a cutaway model of the fourth-generation Prius, the first car utilising the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), the engine and lithium-ion batteries of the enhanced hybrid system ― which are able to achieve a maximum thermal efficiency of 40 percent ― as well as the E-Four (electronic four-wheel drive) system used for the first time in the new Prius (Japan-only).
Advanced safety technologies used in the Prius will be introduced using videos and panel displays. These include the collision avoidance assist system ― known as Toyota Safety Sense P ― and ITS Connect, which utilises vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications.
Future tech initiatives
Videos and display panels will be used to introduce the carmaker’s Mobility Teammate Concept for automated driving as well as the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 which aims to contribute toward the advent of a sustainable society.
As part of the special exhibition of Automotive Engineering Exposition 2016 Yokohama, the Mirai, the Toyota Sports 800, and the first-generation Prius will be displayed as well as a cutaway model of the Toyota Hybrid System installed on the first-generation Prius. Visitors will also be able to test drive the fourth-generation Prius and the Lexus RC F.
