Suzuki Motor Corporation’s Indonesian subsidiary, PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor (SIM) has introduced the XL7, the three-row, seven-seater crossover in the domestic market. With a length of 4450mm, width of 1775mm and height of 1,710mm, the XL7 is billed to offer SUV design and the ample cabin space and convenience of an MPV.
The Suzuki XL7, which is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, has been developed on the Japanese carmaker’s HEARTECT platform. Two transmissions are on offer: a 5-speed manual and a four-speed automatic.
The MPV segment accounts for approximately 30 percent of Indonesia’s overall automobile market, while the SUV segment has been making its presence in the recent years. Suzuki is targeting new XL7 at both these segments and aims to further expand its presence in the market. The new XL7 will be produced at the Cikarang Plant of SIM, and is also planned to be exported to surrounding Asian countries and Latin America.
