SAIC-GM-Wuling launches Baojun 530 compact SUV
Looking to ride the surging demand for SUVs in China, GM JV rolls out the Baojun 530.
SAIC-GM-Wuling, in which GM has a 43 percent stake, has launched the Model Year 2018 Baojun 530, its new SUV in Guangzhou, China. The Baojun 530 is available in eight variants with a choice of a 1.8L or 1.5T turbocharged engine, and a six-speed manual, automatic or DCT transmission. Aluminium wheels, luggage rails and the ESP system from Bosch all come standard.
While the luxury trim adds LED daytime running lamps, front fog lamps, four air bags, leather seats and an electric sunroof, the honor trim offers a panorama sunroof, electric seats, a start/stop engine and Continental tyres. The flagship trim comes with an independent rear suspension, LED lenses, a Harman Infinity sound system, side curtain air bags and an electric parking brake.
The Baojun 530 4655mm long, 1835mm wide, and 1760mm tall. The company claims the Baojun 530 has a roomy interior, especially in the second row which has a flat floor.
Baojun says it leveraged global suppliers to optimise driving enjoyment. Sachs vibration absorbers in the front and rear suspension, a Multimatic-tuned chassis and 3M sound insulation materials are all standard – ensuring a highly quiet and comfortable ride.
The Baojun 530 is priced from RMB 75,800 to RMB 115,800 (Rs 771,000 to Rs 11.78 lakh).
The Baojun brand is among the best sellers in China. In February 2018, sales rose 38 percent to 74,745 units. The Baojun 510 SUV had deliveries of nearly 32,000 units, making it the brand’s most popular model for the 11th consecutive month. Sales of the Baojun 310 family soared 68 percent to more than 18,000 units, driven by robust demand for the Baojun 310 wagon.
