Ricardo, the UK based engineering company and YTO Group, a Chinese-based agriculture and construction machinery manufacturer are going to further extend their long-standing collaboration with the redevelopment of a 38-year-old engine design. The new four and six-cylinder engines from Ricardo will be incorporated into YTO’s tractors, harvesters and many other off-highway machines.
Apart from designing the two engine versions, Ricardo will also lead the calibration and mechanical development testing based at YTO’s engineering facilities in China. The development process will be mainly focused on developing some of the latest combustion and emissions reduction technologies, including Ricardo TVCS (twin vortex combustion system). Ricardo is looking to meet China off-highway stage V emissions regulations while also providing higher fuel efficiency.
During the announcement of the project, Ricardo Asia president Gary Tan said,“This new engine is intended to provide best-in-class performance and fuel consumption while achieving the latest China Stage V emissions regulations. I am confident that the new product will prove a worthy successor to its predecessor, which was also designed in collaboration with Ricardo – and which has proven to be one of China’s most successful agricultural power products.”
