France’s PSA Group is looking to drive growth in Vietnam, one of the more promising car markets in the ASEAN region.

Nine months after the signing of a new local assembly agreement, Peugeot and the Vietnamese group THACO (Truong Haï Auto Corporation) today had the commercial launch of the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 SUVs, now locally produced at the THACO factory in Chulai.

With these two SUVs, which have already seen sales of over 280,000 units worldwide, the PSA Group plans to penetrate the strategic segment of 5- and 7-seater SUVs that represent nearly 20 percent of the Vietnamese car market which nevertheless is a small one compared to global standards.

These two new projects of local assembly aim to cover the needs of the Vietnamese market for a total volume of 26,000 units over the period 2017-2024.

The Peugeot 3008 and 5008 SUVs will complement the current range which comprises the 208 and 508. Peugeot cars are sold in Vietnam through a network of 11 points of sale and repair that meet the international standards of the brand and cover the key regions of capital city Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. By end of 2018, another 10 new dealers will join the existing network to cover the market from north to south.

Vietnam part of ‘Push to Pass’ growth strategy for ASEAN
The acceleration of the development of the Peugeot brand in Vietnam is part of the internationalisation  and of the strategic ‘Push to Pass’ plan for profitable growth. It also drive the PSA Group’s goal to accelerate its development in the ASEAN.
