The Mahindra Group-owned Peugeot Motocycles, the world's oldest motorcycle brand, has been awarded the tender launched this year by Correos of Spain for the supply of 550 units of its 125cc Tweet Pro scooters for postal delivery operations. Correos is the main player in the home delivery of small parcels and further strengthens its 'delivery' activity.
The Correos Group has a total of 54,689 employees, more than 35,000 of them in charge of delivery (including the more than 1,000 professionals of Correos Express). All of them are responsible for the group having an operational capacity of more than 10 million daily shipments, which translates into 2,410 million total shipments (83 million of them, packages). In addition, Correos, with a fleet of 14,766 vehicles, has achieved 49% of the national share of e-commerce shipments.
The new 550 Tweet Pro 125cc scooters, which emits only 62 grams of CO2 per kilometre travelled, are joining the Correos fleet in line with the postal and parcel company's goals of reducing the environmental impact.
The Peugeot Tweet Pro 125cc has been specifically developed for professional use. It comes with a reinforced chassis, greater autonomy thanks to a higher capacity fuel tank and offers as standard an approved grill to support a load of up to 60 kilos. Other product highlights include high-wheels (16-inch) scooter and good maneuverability. Peugeot Motocycles designers have also incorporated features such as its glove compartment with key lock, a flat floor, hook hanger-bag and trunk to store a jet helmet with a screen.
Peugeot Motocycles currently sells a varied range of scooters ranging from 50cc to 125cc, as also its 3-wheel Peugeot Metropolis model. Later tyhis year, the company will introduce a professional version in electric format: the Peugeot e-Ludix.
Peugeot Motocycles has around 70 official sales and repair points throughout Spain, including the Canary and Balearic Islands.
