Nissan Motor Co Ltd announced its production, sales and export figures for October 2015. The global sales of the Japanese carmaker increased 2.4% Y-o-Y to 430,993 units, the fifth consecutive month of increase and an all-time record for the month of October.
The rise in the global sales figures of Nissan is all the more remarkable despite reporting a decline in the home market.
Sales in Japan including mini-vehicles declined 5.9% Y-o-Y to 38,840 units, the 17th consecutive month of decline. Mini-vehicle sales in particular decreased 0.8% Y-o-Y to 13,379 units. Further, vehicle registrations decreased 8.3% Y-o-Y to 25,461 units.
However, Sales outside Japan increased 3.3% Y-o-Y to 392,153 units, the sixth consecutive month of increase and an all-time record for the month of October.
The USA and Mexico reported a solid rise of 12.5% and 20.3% Y-o-Y respectively, both setting an all-time record for the month of October.
Meanwhile in Europe, the sales decreased 13% Y-o-Y to 54,189 units. However, China reported an increase in sales by 16.8% Y-o-Y to 109,575 units. The downturn of sales in other regions continued as the carmaker reported a decline of 7.2% Y-o-Y to 68,184 units.
Production
On the production end, Nissan reported an increase of 4.1% Y-o-Y globally to 481,369 units, an all-time record for the month of October.
Matching the sales trend in Japan, the production in the home country decreased 4.4% Y-o-Y to 69,904 units, a decline for the first time in two months.
However, Production outside of Japan increased 5.7% Y-o-Y to 411,465 units, the sixth consecutive month of increase and an all-time record for a single month.
Exports
Nissan's exports in October increased 14.9% Y-o-Y to 42,602 units, the first increase in three months.
