Nissan Motor Co today announced its production, sales and export figures for January 2016. The Japanese carmaker’s global production in January decreased 0.5% year-on-year to 437,086 units, its first decrease in nine months.
While production in Japan fell 21.8% YoY to 65,416 units in the second consecutive month of decrease, production outside Japan increased 4.5% YoY to 371,670 units, the ninth consecutive month of increase and a record for the month of January.
In the US, production increased 13.5% YoY to 81,942 units, a record for January and likewise, in Mexico, production increased 3.2% year-on-year to 71,468 units. In the UK, production decreased 5.7% year-on-year to 39,705 units. In Spain too, production decreased 19.4% YoY to 9,103 units. In China, production increased 6.4% YoY to 106,784 units while production in other regions increased 3.6% YoY to 62,668 units.
Global sales down 0.4% YoY
Global sales decreased 0.4% YoY to 446,119 units, the first decrease in two months. In Japan, sales including mini-vehicles decreased 11.2% YoY to 50,507 units, the 20th consecutive month of decrease.
Sales outside Japan rose 1.2% YoY to 395,612 units, the ninth consecutive month of increase and a record for the month of January. In the US, sales increased 1.6% YoY to 105,734 units, a record for January. In Mexico, sales were up 11.7% YoY to 30,727 units, a record for January.
In Europe, sales decreased 14.3% YoY to 52,664 units. In China, sales increased 9.4% YoY to 127,306 units, a record for the month of January.
Sales in other regions decreased 4.9% year-on-year to 70,622 units.
Exports from Japan down 28.3% YoY
Exports in January decreased 28.3% year-on-year to 33,166 units, the second consecutive month of decrease.
