Now known as Nidec Mobility, the company will work closely with Nidec’s automotive motor business unit to develop new modules and systems that combine the motors, pumps and gears of the Nidec Group with the electronic control units, and other electronic components, of Nidec Mobility.

Nidec Mobility traces its roots back to 1983 when a division of OMRON Corporation specialising in on-board car components was established. Since then, the car-electronics manufacturer has grown to encompass over 5000 employees in several regions around the world: Japan, Asia-Pacific, the Americas and Europe. The company's product portfolio ranges from motor control systems to switches, Lidar instruments and other sensors.
Nidec started out as a manufacturer of small electric motors for appliances and other machines in 1973.
