All Mini models will now come with a particulate filter and the brand's recently introduced dual-clutch automatic gearbox is now available with the petrol engines, all to boost efficiency.
The changes come about to ensure that Mini models conform to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP), which will replace the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) from September.
With the particulate filter, Mini’s entire engine range will meet the latest Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standard. The 1.5-litre diesel engine has featured the filter since March. This diesel variant also has NOx and selective catalytic reduction converters, the latter of which uses urea injection (AdBlue), to further cut emissions.
In addition, the petrol engines, a 1.5-litre three-cylinder and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder, are now available with Mini's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which was introduced earlier this year on the diesel engine in the Clubman and Countryman.
Mini claims the changes enable the Clubman 1.5 Cooper to achieve 49.5mpg combined and emit 130g/km of CO2. The Countryman 1.5 Cooper, meanwhile, is quoted as enabling 48.7mpg while emitting as little as 132 g/km of CO2.
Along with the powertrain changes, the Mini range is now offered with a new Connectivity Package. This provides real-time traffic information for the sat-nav, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a 12-speaker sound system.
Automatic lights have been fitted to the entire Countryman and Clubman range for the first time as well.
A small price increase is being applied to the two larger models, with the Clubman now priced from £21,085 (Rs 19 lakh) and the Countryman starting at £23,385 (Rs 21 lakh).
