Mazda has announced the launch of two facelifts – 2015 Mazda6 and 2015 Mazda CX-5, which are expected to make their debuts at the European motor show, Geneva, in March.
These models will feature with minor facelift, advanced safety technology and more refined interiors.
They are the first Mazdas with the company’s new Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH), an autonomous high-beam system with four independently controllable blocks of LEDs per head-lamp that can be individually deactivated to prevent blinding oncoming drivers.
The 2015 Mazda6 and 2015 Mazda CX-5 are also equipped with Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Vehicle Monitoring (RVM) system, while also adding Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), which warns the driver of approaching vehicles when reversing. The new Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) provides steering torque assistance to help prevent unintentional lane changes. Also, the Driver Attention Alerts (DAA) monitors the driver’s condition and recommends a break if it detects a change in behaviour. Smart City Brake Support Forward/Reverse (SCBS F/R), meanwhile adds reverse gear functionality to the current SCBS system, which automatically applies the brakes if there is an increased collision risk.
Further, the Mazda6 model arrives with the 2.2-liter SKYACTIV-D engine along with a new all-wheel drive system. The CX-5, on the other hand, gains a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G petrol engine with i-ELOOP technology.
As for the interiors, both get the MZD Connect in-car smartphone connectivity system as well as a 7-inch touchscreen display and added infotainment features. Nicely suited to the overall cabin material quality and coordination, a switch-activated electric parking brake replaces the handbrake lever on both the models for a cleaner centre console.
