For the Paris Motor Show, which will be held from October 4-19, 2014, at the Porte de Versailles exhibition grounds in Paris (France), Faurecia will unveil its latest innovations, technologies and products, under the ‘Less is More’ theme.
The global automotive supplier will, at its 290 square metre stand (Hall 1, Booth D521), exhibit numerous products illustrating the role which Faurecia will play in fuel economy, in particular in weight reduction, within the frame of the Group’s participation in the French initiative for affordable vehicles offering mileage in excess of 117.6 mpg (US)/50kpl. Faurecia will be part of the concept vehicles to be unveiled by French automakers and to which it will have largely contributed, mainly in terms of lightweighting and energy efficiency.
The company says it will also present a physical demonstrator allowing visitors to get a very clear illustration of new technology developments. These innovations will largely feature new materials such as aluminium, magnesium or glass fibre and carbon fibre composites, all lighter than steel.
“Faurecia is proud to introduce the innovations developed for its French customers in the frame of its participation in the French initiative for affordable vehicles offering mileage in excess of 117.6 mpg (US). These innovations allow automakers to save up to 7.5g of CO2 per kilometre. Our demonstrator includes structural and semi-structural parts, especially in composites, an exhaust heat recovery system as well as a lightweight seat using an innovative architecture enabling to reduce vehicle length by more than one inch,” said Christophe Aufrère, director of Technology Strategy of Faurecia.
With 320 sites including 30 R&D centres in 34 countries around the world, Faurecia is now a global leader in its four areas of business: automotive seating, interior systems, automotive exteriors and emissions control technologies. It is the world’s leading supplier of seat frames and mechanisms, emissions control technologies and vehicle interiors. The Group is also the world’s third-largest supplier of complete seat systems and is Europe’s leading name in automotive exteriors.
