Jaguar Land Rover honours top 13 global suppliers

JLR, which spends around Rs 127,959 crore per annum on its annual purchasing and has over 2,600 suppliers worldwide, recently awarded its top 13 global suppliers.

Jaguar Land Rover honours top 13 global suppliers

The Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover, which has an annual production purchasing spend of some £13 billion (Rs 127,959 crore) and more than 2,600 suppliers globally, honoured its top component suppliers at the carmaker’s annual Supplier Excellence Awards last month.

The awards were presented for excellent operational delivery, issue resolution, quality, flexibility and understanding of Jaguar Land Rover's standards. 

According to Ian Harnett, Jaguar Land Rover director of Human Resources and Global Purchasing, "The Supplier Excellence Awards highlight the vital role that our suppliers play within our business. I'm thrilled to have played a part in recognising the achievements of those who have exceeded expectations and helped Jaguar Land Rover to meet our growing production capabilities."

A total of 13 awards were presented for performance in 2015:  three gold, five silver and five bronze.  Winning companies were presented with awards by British TV presenter, Jodie Kidd, at the ceremony held in the company's heartland in the West Midlands.

Jaguar Land Rover is largest automotive manufacturer in Britain. Over the past five years, Jaguar Land Rover has doubled sales and employment, more than tripled turnover, and invested over £12 billion (Rs 118,116 crore) in new product creation and capital expenditure. With an annual production purchasing spend of some £13 billion, Jaguar Land Rover has more than 2,600 suppliers globally. With the introduction of the Jaguar XE, a total of £8 billion (Rs 78,744 crore) worth of global supplier contracts have been placed: 55% in the UK, 38% in Europe and 7% outside Europe.

Gold

Cooper Standard Automotive Ceska Republika in Czech Republic: Specialises in rubber and plastic sealing, fuel and brake lines, fluid transfer hoses and anti-vibration systems.

Autonavi Software Company Ltd in China: Delivers class-leading navigation systems and is working with JLR on the next generation of infotainment (NGI) project.

MAG IAS GmbH in Germany: One of the global leaders in high-end turnkey metal machining systems. Founded in 2005 in Germany, it is also represented in the UK, Hungary, Switzerland, China, the US and India.

Silver

Dau Drӓexlmaier Automotive UK Ltd in the UK: Drӓexlmaier started in 1875 and provides premium interior trim, and a key partner in providing a high-level of luxury and quality instrument panels to JLR customers.

Robert Bosch GMBH in Germany: The Ansbach plant is the global lead for the production of restraint control electronics. Ltd in the UK: Global software supplier providing technology, support and services.

Lear Corporation Poland: It is now one of the world's biggest suppliers of seats and electrical systems and largest automotive employer in Poland.

Drӓexlmaier Automotive Group in Germany: High quality interior trim for a range of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.

Bronze

Maxion Wheels in Germany: The world's largest wheel manufacturer.

FPK Lightweight Technologies Coop in Spain: Manufacturer of lightweight plastic components.

Hutchinson Nichirin Brake Hose in Spain: Global leader in design, development and manufacture of flexible brake hoses.

Borbet Solingen GMBH in Germany: Alloy wheel supplier.

The Event Business Ltd in the UK: Organises a wide breadth of major events, from retailer conferences to investor meetings, to JLR's Goodwood Festival of Speed stand.
