Italy-based abrasive major Abraon, a subsidiary of abrasive technology giant Napolean, is looking for a joint venture partner to establish a manufacturing facility in India.

The company, which is a subsidiary of abrasive technology giant Napoleon, has been producing automotive abrasive products for both OEMs and the aftermarket.

According to Ugo Bonamini, a marketing official of Abraon and in-charge for the company’s stall at the ACMA Automechanika New Delhi, said the company has been selling its products since 12 years through two distributors in India, in Chennai and New Delhi.

“We are thinking to have a JV partner to set up a plant here in say 2-3 years as the Indian market is really improving,” Bonamini said.

Currently, the company manufactures its products at its three highly automated plants in Italy and exports to 40 countries including India.

Globally, the company clocks around $ 30 million in revenues, of which a good chunk of business comes from the Asian region. India is one of the major markets along with China, Thailand and Bangladesh.

The company’s abrasive products are used in bodyshop and service stations to obtain a good finish on the vehicle body before carrying out painting and other chemical processes.
