GM claims world’s first application of carbon fibre reinforced thermoplastic

Teijin’s carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) will be used to manufacture GMC Sierra Denali 1500 and GMC Sierra AT4 1500.

In collaboration with Teijin, a Japan-based chemical, pharmaceutical and information technology company, General Motors has chosen to use carbon fibre reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) in its high production vehicle. This is said to be the first time that this material is being used for mass production vehicles.
