US-based Genovation Cars in 2016 had announced its plans to produce the state-of-the-art electric supercar GXE Corvette, which is based on the iconic Chevrolet Corvette.
The company says that it will showcase its all-electric supercar that can touch a top speed of 220mph (354kph) with its engine producing 800+hp at the CES 2018.
Genovation Cars says it is the world's fastest street legal all-electric supercar, and its pre-production GXE is first and foremost about performance and sustainability. It will feature the latest electric powertrain and battery technology, much of it derived from F1 and Le Mans racing experience.
"Our fourth video in the series details the company's long-standing objective of changing perceptions and misconceptions about electric technology. Since early 2000s, Genovation Cars has focused on electric car drivetrains, power storage, battery technology and state-of-the-art inverters. The wealth of knowledge we've gained has led us to the introduction of the all-electric GXE supercar. For Genovation Cars, it's truly history in the making," said Andrew Saul, CEO, Genovation Cars.
The company says to make its electric-car as sustainable as possible it has focussed not only on the engine but on the exteriors and interiors as well. Some of the features the company has incorporated to make its car truly environment friendly are – the seats are made with soy-based foam, for the tyres the company plans to utilise tyres made from natural rubber infused with small amounts of orange peel oil (a byproduct of the beverage industry) compared to traditional tyres that usually require up to 5 gallons (18 litres) of oil for production.
For the batteries the company aims to use the most stable lithium-battery chemistry on the market which is completely non-toxic. This batteries can be reused for stationary backup power before eventually being recycled. It is also in talks with companies that manufacture automotive-grade carpeting from recycled plastic bottles. It says that while other car manufacturers would not use this carpeting as it is not possible to maintain satisfactory colour consistency from car to car. It views this as a positive as it makes each vehicle slightly unique.
